About

The AAM is very excited to confirm that the Music Australia International Conference Contribution (MAICC) Managers funding program will be renewed for another 3 rounds across 2026/27, thanks to the generosity of Music Australia.

Delivered in partnership with our friends at Sounds Australia, MAICC supports selected AAM-member artist managers to attend major international music conferences by providing essential funding to help ease the financial burden of international travel. This enables managers to undertake a reconnaissance trip to a specific international conference - and/or be on the ground to support their showcasing artist/s - during pivotal career-building moments.

Applicants can apply for grants of up to $5,000 AUD.

Three funding rounds have been confirmed for the period of July 2026 - June 2027:

  • ROUND 3, 2026: Provides funding for conferences occurring between August 25 - December 31, 2026

  • ROUND 1, 2027: Provides funding for conferences occurring in January, February or March 2027

  • ROUND 2, 2027: Provides funding for conferences occurring in April, May or June 2027

Since its inception in 2023 (then titled the ‘Managers International Conference Contribution’), MAICC has provided financial support for over 100 artist managers to be on-ground at major international conferences to take advantage of invaluable real-life networking opportunities, export development, and professional growth. Participants also benefit from shared experiences with their Australian industry peers who are also in attendance, as well as on-ground support from Sounds Australia and/or AAM (where attendance permits).

See below for full details about this program. If you have further questions, please contact kate@aam.org.au

Program & Structure

  • Selected via a competitive application process, successful artist managers will receive contributions of up to $5,000 AUD (excluding GST) to help cover essential costs associated with attending an international music conference of their choice. This may include travel, accommodation, and registration expenses.

We understand that some managers may already be based near their chosen event, or have alternative travel plans. As such, applicants are asked to request only the amount of funding they require, based on their individual circumstances.

  • There isn’t a pre-determined number of funding recipients per round, rather the number of successful applicants will depend on available funding and the overall strength of the applications received.

  • Applicants must nominate an international music conference occurring within the dates specified for the round they are applying for. The list below is intended as a guide to some of the eligible conferences managers may apply for. However, managers may instead apply for funding to attend a different conference that is not listed below, providing that it falls within the relevant dates for the funding round they are applying for, and that they can articulate in their application how that conference aligns with their strategic goals.

Eligibility Criteria and T&Cs

Please note: There may have been changes to the eligibility criteria and T&Cs since previous funding rounds. Please read below carefully before applying. If you have questions please email kate@aam.org.au

  • You are eligible to apply for the current MAICC funding round if you meet the following criteria:

    • Are a current AAM member

    • Are currently working as an artist manager

    • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in artist management

    • Are an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident

    • Hold a current valid passport

    • Submit an application by the due date

    • You must be applying as an artist manager - i.e. a lead manager or co-manager - for the artist/s you are representing during this activity (not as a day-to-day manager, tour manager, or other role)

    • Please note that you are ineligible to apply for funding in the current MAICC round (Round 3, 2026) if you received funding in the previous MAICC round (Round 2, 2026).

    OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    • No more than one management representative of one artist can receive funding for any one conference at a time. This means if two managers are both applying for the same conference representing the same artist (whether they are from the same or separate companies) only one of them will be eligible. In this case, eligibility will automatically go towards (in order of priority); (A) The manager who is also representing another artist that is showcasing at the conference, or (B) The manager who has not yet received MAICC or MICC funding in the past. If both managers meet criteria A and B, the AAM will be in touch with both manager applicants and ask them to choose which one of them they'd like to be eligible, but we would recommend co-managers communicate with one another and their acts in advance of applying, and select one manager to apply. To clarify - more than one manager from a management company is now eligible to apply for MAICC for the same conference, but only if they are representing different artists from the roster at that conference. There must be internal communication within the company that those managers are applying for the same event, and clear communication should be included that the managers are there for different artists’ goals and plans from each other, if multiple managers from the same company choose to apply to attend the same conference.

    • Whilst applicants can apply for funding for the same conference from another MAICC-distributor (i.e. AIR, AMPAL, ALMBC etc) - or apply for funding to attend a conference occurring in the same country within 2 weeks either side of the conference you’re applying for through this MAICC Managers round - successful funding recipients will only be allowed to receive funding from one organisation for a single conference OR for a conference in the same country happening within 2 weeks either side of that conference. This is to ensure fair distribution of funds across funding recipients across the board of the wider MAICC program.

    • You do not need to be attending your conference with a showcasing artist to be eligible to apply, although we do ask you to specify on your application form whether or not you are attending with a showcasing artist.

    • Ensure you have read all criteria and T&C’s before applying. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please email kate@aam.org.au to discuss.

    • You must be a current AAM member to apply. If you are not a current AAM member and wish to apply to become a member, please visit the AAM Membership webpage for details and a link to apply. You can also email info@aam.org.au for all membership enquiries.

  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

    • A commitment to a career in artist management, and that they are recognised by the industry, and their peers, as a professional music manager.

    • A comprehensive plan of activities they will undertake during their time at their specified event, demonstrating why this event - and that particular international market - is a priority territory for themselves and their artist(s) at this time.

    • Clear goals for their artist(s) and themselves in the international market, as well as demonstrating the potential for growth in this region.

    • A plan for how they intend to maximise the opportunities in the international market before, during and after the program.

    • A clear outline of their career plans for the next 12 months, which is both detailed and realistic, but demonstrates potential growth.

    • Letters of support from up to 3 industry professionals or peers. (Whilst letters of support are optional, we highly encourage managers of all levels to include letters of support with their application. These funding rounds are very competitive, and we suggest applicants include letters of support as key support material to boost the strength of their application. We encourage applicants to include letters from people outside of their own company/business.)

Please note: Not all applicants will receive funding, and only a selected number of applicants will be successful in receiving funding per round. Special consideration will be given to those who haven’t received MAICC or MICC funding before.

  • The Association of Artist Managers believes in good governance and ethical practice. We are committed to ensuring that decision processes are transparent and that a clear conflict of interest policy is practiced with each decision on funding and opportunities.

The AAM is governed by a Board of senior artist managers and music industry practitioners, most of whom volunteer their time. While still actively working in the industry, they offer their advice and expertise at a macro level, helping to steer the overall strategy of the organisation. AAM Board members are eligible to apply for funding and opportunities offered by the organisation, however the judgement of their applications is kept at an arms-length. No internal staff or other Board members have a say in the outcome of their applications, and the job is outsourced to affiliated organisation(s) involved in the funding or opportunity, to make the final decision.

Should you want to know more, you are more than welcome to contact the organisation with any questions about this conflict of interest process by emailing info@aam.org.au

  • The Association of Artist Managers (AAM) will pay selected funding recipients (Activity Participants) up to AU$5,000 (excluding GST) as a lump sum upon receipt of a (a) fully executed Agreement and (b) a valid Tax Invoice.

Agreements will be distributed to confirmed Activity Participants promptly upon confirmation of their involvement in this program.

    • The Grant Funds shall be exclusively used by Activity Participants to contribute toward their costs of attending their specified event, including their flights, accommodation, event ticketing or admission and other similar associated costs.

    • No later than 90 days from the last day of the event, Activity Participants must provide AAM with an Activity Report that provides details about the activities they undertook with regard to this program, including achievements, goals (including those not met), industry outcomes and benefits, and a breakdown of how the funds were spent.

    • Travel Permissions: The Activity Participant has, or will obtain prior to the Activity, all visas, permissions, valid documentation and any other permits or exemptions required to travel to the region where their specified event takes place.

    • As a condition of receiving the Manager Grant, the Activity Participant gives their permission to allow AAM, Sounds Australia and Creative Australia / Music Australia to use, without compensation, the participant’s name, professional information and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes in connection with the Grant, including on websites or social media channels controlled by the AAM, Sounds Australia and Creative Australia / Music Australia.

    • It is a requirement that you inform us of any co-funding for this activity, whether it is confirmed before submitting your MAICC application; while waiting for the result; or after (and if) your application for MAICC has been successful.

    • It is the responsibility of all participants to arrange and pay for any insurance that they require to undertake this Activity. (If you wish to use some of your MAICC funding towards insurance costs, this is permitted.)

Applications for Round 3, 2026 are now open.

  • "The AAM program to enable managers to travel overseas to conferences and with clients for key shows and festivals has been transformative in the last few years. As a manager, often there's a degree of trepidation or hesitation as to whether it's a worthwhile investment in being alongside an artist in these key moments and this helps open the doors to new business opportunities and a chance to expand your network alongside the artist having the same experiences at conferences and festivals. The AAM has great infrastructure and support to make the most of these moments amongst the supportive ecosystem of fellow AAM members."

Harry White, Future Classic (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • “Attending Amsterdam Dance Event with the support of the Music Australia International Conference Contribution – Managers program was genuinely impactful. The opportunity to reconnect with international partners, build new relationships and advocate for Australian artists in key global markets has directly strengthened our international strategy and momentum.”

Nina Agzarian, NLV Records (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • "Receiving a grant contribution to attend AXEAN 2025 will directly contribute to expanding Hollow Coves touring in Asia. The support and introductions from Sounds Australia were instrumental in making valuable connections which are already developing in to positive relationships. I'm grateful for the support of AAM, Music Australia and Sounds Australia in directly expanding our networks and opening up opportunities to tour an entirely new part of the world across multiple territories."

Dan Zilber, Lighter Than Air (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • "Attending the Reeperbahn Music Conference was genuinely transformative. It reminded me how vital it is to step outside the day-to-day grind and engage directly with the global music community. The connections made and opportunities uncovered — including international media and performance prospects — have opened exciting new pathways for my artists and I am very grateful to Music Australia. Sounds Australia and of course the AAM for the very generous funding that enabled me to have such a positive experience!"

Christine Collyer, Bloom Artist Management (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • "The MAICC Manager's program has been integral for up and coming artists to be able to afford bringing representation to international conferences. The amount of connections you can make for your artists to further build their careers by being on-ground is immense, and it's made possible by programs like these."

Charlotte Ried, Powerhouse Management (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • “The MAICC program is one of the best funding initiatives for managers wanting to do business internationally. It stands alone in recognising and honouring the key role managers play in the success of an artist.”

Stu McCullough, Amplifire Music (MAICC Funding Recipient)

  • "MAICC is one of the most valuable artists management development opportunities to emerge. Through participating in this program, not only have I been able to grow my roster's export prospects through the region, but I've learnt valuable information which will save us thousands if not tens of thousands in the future. With the cost of everything rising, independent artists and managers can ill afford these types of developmental opportunities, without which they encounter even further struggles to grow or even remain sustainable. Without this funding, I would not have been able to attend this event.”

Hayley Ayres, 360 Artist Logistics (MAICC Funding Recipient)
